I’ve got my AirPods turned up, listening to “Walk It Out” by UNK. I just heard the news of his passing, and in his honor, I’m taking a stroll down memory lane. For those who might not know, UNK released this hit in 2006, right when dance videos were taking the internet by storm. The song was a staple at my high school’s pep rallies—big gatherings before a big game meant to hype everyone up. I vividly remember football players busting out the iconic dance moves and the entire gym buzzing with excitement before the evening’s game. I feel pure nostalgia, a snapshot of a time when music and movement brought everyone together. Watch the dance here.
This week has been non-stop—a whirlwind of new projects, connecting with friends, and staying active. I recently took a new role of executive assistant at a fitness studio here in Maui, and we’re gearing up for something exciting that launches next week. It’s been inspiring to collaborate with people who share a passion for wellness. With such a busy schedule, I’ve realized how crucial a solid morning routine is to staying grounded.
I’ve always loved sweet slow morning—thanks in part to my mom, who made sure we never slept in, even on weekends. Her motto might as well be carpe diem (“seize the day”), and that’s definitely stuck with me.
My Mornings:
- 6:30 AM: Make the bed, meditate, and do a short breathwork session.
- 7:00 AM: Make tea.
- 7:15 AM: Journal or take a walk through the garden.
- 7:30 AM: Turn on some feel-good music, dance, and stretch.
- 8:00 AM: Answer emails, shower, and start the day.
I had so many incredible conversations this week. Here are some takeaways

- Foraging for food fosters a deep connection to the earth, keeps our wild spirit alive, and provides essential nutrients.
- Movement and play are vital for a balanced, healthy, and joyful life.
- Focus on being present; the past and future are beyond our control.
- Travel enriches our stories, enhances our lives, and deepens our connection to the human experience.
